Designs

As our children have grown and left home we found our home becoming more and more a place for entertainment and to host our growing family as we began to have grandchildren. We wanted something to entertain in and enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains, yet something that was easy to maintain. We also were excited to get away from the hustle of the city life.

Introduction Video to our Build
This short clip is an introduction to where we started creating video for our build. We already had the main foundation walls built when we started to do our filming of this house build.

Introducing the work
In this short clip we describe the work we will be doing and give you a walk around the foundation walls.
Water Proofing the foundation walls and footings
One of the first steps we needed to do in order to move forward on our Timber Lakes build was to water proof our basement. In Utah most people don’t do much more then apply a water proofing membrane or tar on their walls. However, being up in the snow and getting a lot of water run off we decided we wanted something better. We did six things to help protect our foundation and walls from outside water getting through.
- We applied water proofing cock and membrane adhesive
- We put a foot of gravel around the footings
- We installed dimple board on the walls
- We installed a French Drain
- We back filled and made sure the house had at least a 5% grade away from it
